Our History

Bridging Past Glory with a Promising Future with the Ohio Valley Ironmen!

The Ohio Valley Ironmen proudly carry forward the legacy of the Wheeling Ironmen, a team that once epitomized the region's passion for football. With a rich history of championships and community spirit, we honor the past while building a promising future.

Honoring the Wheeling Ironmen Legacy

Established in 1962, the Wheeling Ironmen quickly became a symbol of determination and community pride.

Their back-to-back United Football League championships in 1962 and 1963 solidified their place in football history.

Competing in leagues like the Continental Football League, they showcased resilience and commitment to the sport.

Revitalizing a Proud Heritage

The Ohio Valley Ironmen are reigniting this legacy by joining the International Football Alliance (IFA), a league dedicated to bringing competitive professional football to passionate markets.

Under the leadership of General Manager and Head Coach Manny Matsakis, a Shadyside native with extensive coaching experience at Kansas State, Texas Tech, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Ironmen are poised to make a significant impact.

This revitalization bridges past glory with a modern vision for football in the Ohio Valley.
